The city of Maryville water maintenance division of public works will be flushing water mains throughout the distribution system beginning today through Friday, November 22.
Line flushing will assist in getting past the taste and odor issues caused by algae blooms as a result of lake turnover. All water leaving the water treatment plant exceeds minimum standards for drinking water set by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
Once a corrective action is taken, it can take 7-14 days to work through the system, towers, and into businesses and homes. The flushing will expedite this process.
